Re: Any Rincon hikers?
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 4:39 PMI did an xmas trip solo before. I headed up to Manning Camp and then did day hikes around the peak....it seemed like I had the whole mountain to myself. Xmas eve I wrapped a tree with lights and chuckled as the airliners went by at my height....someone had to look out and see those little lights going....surrounded by miles of darkness. -

Re: Any Rincon hikers?
Wed, July 11, 2007 - 7:14 PMReaching the top of Rincon is almost a religious experience. The hike is pretty serious, then that last half mile really beats you up, then you crest the top and the wind is moving over the peak at 20-30mph and you can see for miles in every direction.
I like to freeze my water jugs for the trip, then slip a few good imported beers between them to enjoy when we reach the peak. It always reminds me of those Michelobe commercials: It just doesn;t get any better than this. -
